Andrew Weeks (born 9 September 1988) is a British composer, multi-instrumentalist, orchestrator & music educator working predominantly in the fields of contemporary classical and commercial music.

Andrew's music appears on TV shows such as BBC 2's Gardeners' World, and The Chelsea Flower Show writing for Hitpoint Production Music based in London.[1]

On 8th March 2023, his Mass for Planet Earth for SATB, Organ & Orchestra was performed at St. Andrew's Hall in Norwich by the Norwich School Choral Society (who commissioned the work), and Norwich Baroque.[2]

Education & Early Career

Andrew attended St. Bernard's Catholic Grammar School in Slough and attended two Eton Choral Courses which sparked his interest in choral music.

He began playing the accordion at the age of five with his mother's morris dancing team, Taeppas Tump. Andrew later went on to perform with contemporary English Folk Band, Inlay, as an accordionist, singer, percussionist and composer. Inlay toured the UK folk circuit for the best part of a decade and produced three albums: Inlay (2012), Live at Helios Studios (2015), and Forge (2016).[3]

Andrew completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Education in 2013 from the University of Buckingham and has taught at Norwich School for over 10 years. Roles include Acting Head of Academic Music & Head of Instrumental Music & Composition.[4]

Composition & Performance Work

Andrew's output includes music for TV, film, folk, choral & orchestral scores. He has written music for numerous choirs including the Norwich School Chapel Choir, Sheringham & Cromer Choral Society and Sloane Square Choral Society. He has worked with professional orchestras including London Mozart Players, the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, The Academy of St. Thomas, and Norwich Baroque.

In 2018 he took his attention to music and the moving image, completing a Masters in Composition & Orchestration for Film, Games & TV with the world's first online Film Scoring School Thinkspace Education Ltd. (University of Chichester). He received his first IMDb credit in 2018 for the Film Tessellation for Charmaine Mujeri and Agnieska Pietrowska[5] and scored a short for young director and writer, Jack Parfitt for his 2023 film, The Scales.[6][7]

Teaching

Andrew has worked at Norwich School since 2011 and has worked with choirs, orchestras, bands, primary schools and youth theatre productions promoting music making across the region.
