Andrea Mandel-Campbell is a Canadian television journalist, author, corporate strategist and advisor to CEOs, start-up founders and politicians.[citation needed]
Early life
Mandel-Campbell is originally from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and attended the University of Winnipeg Collegiate. Her first job out of university was a reporter for the Flin Flon Daily Reminder.[1] She graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism (Honours), Political Science (double major) degree. Her Honours thesis was on the live capture of whales and dolphins for marine parks.[2]
Career
Mandel-Campbell spent 10 years as a foreign correspondent in Latin America with periods in Mexico, Chile, Peru, and Argentina, where she was the bureau chief for London's Financial Times. After returning to Canada, she wrote a business book, Why Mexicans Don't Drink Molson: Rescuing Canadian Business from the Suds of Global Obscurity published by Douglas & McIntyre. The book has been nominated for the Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing, and the John Wesley Dafoe book prize.[3] She became a news anchor on CTV's Business News Network.[2][4]
She left journalism for politics, running as a provincial candidate for the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party in the Toronto riding of Don Valley West. Mandel-Campbell ran against incumbent Kathleen Wynne in the 2011 Ontario general election.[5] She served as a senior advisor to a federal minister in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. In 2013, Andrea moved into the corporate world, starting the Canadian offices of a New York-based CEO Advisory firm before heading up a Capital Markets advisory practice for a large Canadian consultancy. She presently is an Operating Advisor to VERTU Capital, Canada's only female-founded private equity firm. Mandel-Campbell sits on the advisory board for Crown Realty Partners, a commercial real estate company committed to adding value through decarbonizing office buildings. She is also a Director on the Board of the Ontario Centre of Innovation.[2]
In October 2022, she started a sustainable adventure company, karibu.[6][2]

She is married and has two children.[2]
