Andrea Bonaceto, FRSA is an Italian artist and entrepreneur. He is widely known for his art practice exploring the intersection between visual art, poetry and technology. His work has been featured in mainstream media and exhibitions worldwide. Andrea is also one of the founders of London-based blockchain investment firm, Eterna Capital.

Early Life and Career

Andrea Bonaceto was born on 13, May 1989 in Pisa (Italy) and grew up in Viareggio (Italy). He graduated with a Laurea Magistrale in Economics at University of Pisa and Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in 2013 and subsequently moved to London to study Finance. Andrea holds a MSc Finance from Imperial College London.[1]

Andrea has been involved in the blockchain and NFT space since the early days. In 2018, together with 3 ex-Blackrock employees, he founded Eterna capital, an investment firm operating in the blockchain space .[2] From 2021 onwards, Andrea formally established his art practice.

His most notable works are:

ARTificial Intelligence (2021)

Andrea collaborated artistically with humanoid robot Sophia, developed by the Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics[3]. For this project, he created digital portraits of Sophia and her creators, which were then processed by Sophia's neural network to produce a unique output that evolved from Andrea’s original artworks.[4]

Andrea then created a series of NFTs as video loops displaying the evolution of the work, starting with Andrea drawings, morphing into the robot interpretation, and then transitioning back to Andrea’s work. The cornerstone piece of the release “Sophia Instantiation” was auctioned on NFT platform Nifty Gateway for $688,888.[5]

The Moon Landing (2021)

Andrea was commissioned by Corriere della Sera to interpret through an NFT the first page of the newspaper from 1969 announcing that “Man is on the moon”. The artwork is programmable and will transform to its final state once humans go back to the moon[6]
