Andrea Ammon, MD, MPH, is the current director of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), an EU agency strengthening Europe's defence against infectious disease[1].

Career

Ammon joined the Robert Koch Institute in 1996. Between 2002 and 2005, she was Head of Department for Infectious Disease Epidemiology[2].

Since 2005, Ammon has worked at ECDC[1]. She succeeded Marc Sprenger as Acting Director on 1 May 2015[3]. She was subsequently appointed Director on 22 March 2017[4] and took office on 16 June 2017[5][2].
