He is a member of the prominent Koo family, widely recognized for their influence on Taiwan’s banking and finance sectors.

Early life and education

The company now includes more than 45 subsidiaries operating across Taiwan, mainland China, and Southeast Asia.

Philanthropy

Koo is deeply involved in education and philanthropy, particularly with NYU Stern. He has served as Chair of the NYU Stern Executive Board and is a member of the NYU Board of Trustees. In 2023, he received the NYU Albert Gallatin Medal, the university’s highest honor for contributions to society.[1]

His support for NYU Stern led to the creation of the "Andre J.L. Koo Lobby" and the “Andre Koo Technology and Entrepreneurship MBA Program.”[4]
