Andersson Boscán Pico (born November 20, 1991, in Caracas, Venezuela) is an Ecuadorian-Venezuelan investigative journalist, best known as the co-founder of the digital media outlet La Posta. His reporting has focused on political corruption, organized crime, and social justice issues in Ecuador, earning him both accolades and threats. In 2024, due to escalating death threats, Boscán sought asylum in Canada.
Early Life and Education
Boscán was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and later moved to Ecuador, where he pursued a career in journalism. He began his professional journey at Diario Expreso before transitioning to investigative journalism.
Career
In 2017, Boscán co-founded La Posta alongside Luis Eduardo Vivanco, creating a platform that became renowned for its investigative journalism. Among his notable works are exposés on government corruption, such as the Caso Caminosca and the Odebrecht scandal.[1]
In 2023, his investigation El Gran Padrino revealed links between corruption and narcopolitics within President Guillermo Lasso's administration. This report was a finalist for the Gabo Awards.[2]
Threats and Asylum
Due to his work exposing organized crime and political corruption, Boscán has faced numerous threats. In 2024, he and his wife, Mónica Velásquez Villacís, also a journalist, fled Ecuador and sought asylum in Canada.[3][4]
