Amish Shah is an entrepreneur, Founder of J’evar, and Founder of ALTR Created Diamonds, known for being the first to introduce lab-grown diamond fine jewelry to the marketplace[1] [2].

Background

ALTR Created Diamonds is a division of the R.A. Riam Group, a wholesale jeweler based in New York City.[3] The principles of Riam Group were heirs to a heritage of 80 years in the mined diamond business, when they released their first lab-grown diamond.[4] Riam introduced ALTR Created Diamonds at JCK Las Vegas trade show in 2016.[5]

Early Life

Amish Shah was born and raised in India. During his childhood, he displayed a keen interest in computers, actively participating in the introduction of computers to grade-schoolers in the town of Surat, Gujarat in the 1980s. [6] At the age of 12, Shah began teaching computer science part-time at the Indian Institute of Computer Science and authored his own coding book at 13[7]Despite his passion for computer science, he chose to pursue a degree in accounting and economics upon the advice of his father and grandfather.

Equipped with a degree from Mumbai, India, Shah joined his family business in 1992. In 2001, he transitioned to Third-generation American company R & R Grosbard Inc. in New York, where he played a pivotal role in expanding the company's presence from a traditional diamond distributor to an international player through customized products and specialized processes. [8] Under his leadership, the company expanded to countries including Australia, South Africa, Mauritius, India, Israel, and the European Union. [9]

Early Career

In 2006, Amish Shah presented lab-grown diamonds at JCK Las Vegas, the world's largest trade event for jewelry. [10] Recognizing the potential for disruption and change in the diamond industry, he was one of the early pioneers in the field. [11] Ten years after joining R & R Grosbard Inc., Shah took over its operations and merged it with his family business, establishing R A Riam Group Inc. in New York. [12] This new company gained affiliations in several countries for distribution and sourcing, positioning itself as a global industry leader. Its specialization lies in producing fine jewelry products using components and labor from multiple sources worldwide, offering global specialization to local customers.

Creation of ALTR Created Diamonds

In 2012, Amish Shah propelled the conversation around lab-grown diamonds, advocating for the power of applied science and pushing for technological advancements and industry norms. This vision led to the founding of ALTR Created Diamonds in 2016. [13] As the only vertically integrated diamond enterprise providing an end-to-end product, ALTR gained prominence at JCK Las Vegas and expanded to become a global company. [14]

Creation of J’evar

In 2023, Amish Shah launch a new consumer brand J’evar. It is a luxury fine jewelry brand with a strong consumer focus with a commitment to sustainable luxury utilizes carbon-neutral lab-grown diamonds and recycled metals [15].

Pioneer in the Industry

Leadership

Amish was featured on the premiere episode of CNBC's "Streets of Dreams with Marcus Lemonis" titled "Diamond District." The episode aired on December 29, 2020. In the interview, ALTR Created Diamonds and their President Amish Shah were showcased.[16]

Growing Film

In 2018, Amish presented a diamond growing film at JCK Las Vegas. The film presents how two technologies (CVD and HPHT) are combined to grow the finest Lab Grown Diamonds for ALTR. [17]

ALTR has 49 patents.[18]

Pink Diamond

In 2018, Amish created a 3.99-carat Asscher cut grown using the chemical vapor deposition process (CVD). It was graded by GCAL as a fancy orangy pink of VS2 clarity. [19]
