Biography

Since his youth, Amedeo Demitry has shown a marked talent for archetypes and new languages of art and culture. His travels in many countries, his visits to museums, galleries, his personal knowledge of international artists, and in particular his studies of art history, led him to a specific profession, always open to a broader vision of socio-cultural realities. There are many exhibitions and major events curated by him, including the artistic direction of Expo Arte Bari in the editions 2012 and 2013, accompanied by collateral exhibitions such as the Anthology of Mario Sironi and Alchimia of Silence[3]

In particular, is also remembered the managerial activity in the creation of the world "finissage" of the exhibition event on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of John Cage, opened in New York and finished at the Swabian Castle of Bari in 2013[4]. This has allowed him to count among his most supportive collaborations, the one with Baroness Lucrezia De Domizio Durini, who likes to call him 'Art Manager', cultural operator famous and recognized throughout the world as one of the most authoritative scholars of the thought and work of the German master Joseph Beuys, having collaborated directly in the famous last operation Defense of Natura[5]. A plaque in honor of Amedeo Demitry is still located at the Plantation Paradise, wanted by Beuys, open-air museum designed by architect Maurizio de Caro inside the estate of Baroness Lucrezia de Domizio Durini in Bolognano[6].

Amedeo Demitry was the creator of Romart, the International Biennale of Art and Culture of the City of Rome, curated by him in 2015, 2017 and 2019, which saw exhibited, in the first edition, about 1800 works by artists from 54 countries in the spaces of the Rome Fair. During that first edition took place the conference "Who is Joseph Beuys" by Lucrezia De Domizio Durini with the screening of the famous film "Beuys frames" - NO PROFIT- awarded at the Indipentent Film Festival of NYC[7]. The 2017 edition was held at the Stadium of Domiziano in Rome, archaeological site UNESCO heritage, in Piazza Navona. The 2019 edition was characterized by a 'dislocated' arrangement between the Stadium of Domiziano and Palazzo Velli in Trastevere.

In 2016 he was the creator and curator of the Premio Arte Roma, an international prize dedicated to contemporary art, held at the Stadium of Domiziano. The Award has been a great success for critics and audiences, with the award of Alfred Milot Mirashi, Albanian artist now established in the European scene, author of the monumental Keys, layout of recognition of his expression[8]. On that occasion the event hosted the exhibition "SPIRITO DI ROMA - La Pop Art Italiana nella Scuola romana di Piazza del Popolo" with the exhibition of works by artists such as Mario Schifano, Tano Festa, Salvo Lombardo, Giosetta Fioroni , Franco Angeli10. At the Stadium of Domiziano, which still manages the artistic part of the major exhibitions, the Demitry has curated several solo and collective exhibitions. In June 2018 he curated the Canova Prize International Art Award, held in New York, on Broadway in Manhattan[9]. The event was attended by a jury composed of international art personalities, commissioned by the curator, including: Lucrezia De Domizio Durini, Marisa Del Re, Italian New York gallerist, Sun Yue, director of the Riverside Museum in Beijing and the Albanian artist Helidon Xhixha.

In 2018 Amedeo Demitry was appointed as the sole expert in Italy responsible for verifying and certifying the works of Arman (Nice 1928 - New York 2005) proposed for archiving, at the behest of his wife and heir Corice, owner of the New York archive.

Again in New York, in 2019, he designed and curated the international photography exhibition "Aliphoto NYC International Photography Trade Show", commissioned by the American company OLYMPIA LTD.

Judicial proceedings

At the end of 2010, Amedeo Demitry ran into a judicial matter involving the American artist Mark Kostabi who, claiming to have been cheated by the same, filed a complaint against him at the Court of Rome. After seven years of litigation, in 2017, the Court of Rome, recognizes the groundlessness of the complaint of the artist, as well as the complete innocence of the Demitry, reporting a sentence of complete absolution with full formula, at the request not only of the defense but also of the Prosecutor himself, as "the fact does not exist". This judgment is not appealed by the prosecution and becomes enforceable, resulting in damages claimed by Amedeo Demitry of an amount equal to two hundred fifty thousand euro[10]
