Amardeep Challapalli (born 3rd July 1982), referred to by his initials a'd, is an Indian film director and screenwriter, know for his works in Telugu cinema, in addition to otherIndian languages| Indian Language films. ad is known to direct multiple genres, including but not limited to parallel cinema[1] and docudrama[2] noted for their gritty realism, technical finesse, and craft[3] [4].

Starting his career as a business management professional, he made an entry into Telugu cinema with a crime thriller, Karmanye Vaadhikaarasthe (KMV) in 2022.


Early life and background

a'd was born into a Telugu speaking family, and did his schooling at Kennedy High School, Vijayawada and completed his Masters in Business Administration from ICFAI post to his Bachelor of Commerce|B.Com degree from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Andhra Pradesh [5].

He is a follower of Gora[6] [7] [8] and an Atheist by choice.

Film career, craft and style

He served for well known companies in the IT industry for over a decade before starting his own entity Parikram IT Solutions Pvt Ltd in the year 2018[9] and during the span he worked on number of short films[10]. In the year 2015, during the shoot of Lakshmi Manchu and Adivi Sesh's starring film Dongaata[11], he met Bhasker Samala, Cinematographer[12] through which he started building PR in the film world. Unlike most of his contemporaries, a'd did not assist anybody in film-making before venturing into the industry.

a'd is greatly influenced by the writings of Sri Sri (writer)|Sri Sri[13], Chalam[14] and film-making styles of Vamsy[15], Maniratnam[16], Ramgopal Varma[17] and Krishna Vamsi[18].

Other work

Apart from films, he worked on number of short films[10] and few noted commercials.

Personal life

a'd was married to Rajia and have a son Agraj.
