Aline Sano Shengero[1] [2](Born October 10,1995)[3], known professionally as Alyn Sano is a Rwandan Singer and Songwriter. Originally from Nyarugenge District, She First garnered attention after releasing "Naremewe Wowe" Music Video in 2018.[4]

Early Life and Background

Aline Sano was raised by her single mother of five[3]. At age 16, she started singing in a choir, where she started crafting her songwriting in the gospel genre[3][4]. This is where she first had active exposure and feedback from fans. While a university student she performed jazz and blues with different live bands at hotels, clubs, weddings and other corporate events in Kigali, and interpreted classics from Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston and the likes.[4]

She started recording original music right after graduating from Akilah Institute for Women (now Davis College) in Hospitality Management and Leadership[1]. Her debut single “Witinda” [3][4]caught on setting her up for making a name for herself with various hits that followed. [5]

Awards, Competitions and Perfomances

In 2020, she was awarded the “Woman Of The Decade Award” by her former university[6] in the spirit of recognizing outstanding work and She is currently serving as Brand Ambassador to the institution[7]. In 2020, she was also named Rwanda’s Best Female Artist by the acclaimed show Isango Na Muzika[8].

Alyn Sano recently attended The Voice Afrique Francophone|The Voice Afrique, one of the biggest music competitions in Africa[9], where she made it to the top 12[10]. This extra visibility combined with her English songs makes her one of the most promising international artists to make waves starting from Rwanda.

She has already performed in Rwanda’s biggest events such as Kwita Izina[11], My Talent Live Concert [1], Transform Africa Summit, AfroBasket [2] and notably, Legends Alive where she got to sing along the legendary Yvonne Chaka Chaka from South Africa.
