In 1999, the group entered the energy sector by launching fuel distribution operations under the brand Alpet.[4]
In 2008, the Mehmet Altınbaş Education and Culture Foundation founded Altınbaş University (formerly Istanbul Kemerburgaz University) in Istanbul.[5]
