Alon Lifshitz (born 8 December 1975, Tel Aviv, Israel) is a venture capitalist and investor based in Israel, he is the co-founder and general partner at Hanaco Venture Capital, a $400M Tel Aviv and New York based venture capital firm. Lifshitz is known for investing in early-stage, disruptive technology startups and is considered to be Israel’s top technology dealmakers and often termed as a major investor in Israeli, and US companies. Lifshitz's investing style has been summarized as, from seed to growth.[1][2]

Prior to Hanaco, Lifshitz was a managing director at Blumberg Capital, a 700M$ US based venture capital firm and he was head of the firm’s Tel Aviv office. He started investing in 2010 and as of 2020, he has made significant investments in a number of companies including Yotpo, Credorsx, Fundbox, Cyvera, Intsights, Deep Instinct, Sqream, Namogoo Technologies, Sepio systems and others. He also sits on the boards of multiple technology companies.[3][4]

For many years, Alon was tech scout in Israel for a few of worlds largest companies such as Fujitsu, IAG, Vodafone and British Telecom.

Early life and education

Lifshitz was born in 1975 in Israel. He completed his Bachelor (Honors) in finance and business management from Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya, Israel.[5]

Career

After completing graduation, Lifshitz founded Sales Gate International, a business development company that helps companies with global distribution. During his time at the company, he led projects for Fujitsu and other major companies in Europe and Japan. The company had offices in Tel Aviv, London, and Tokyo. He became a major technology scout in Israel and has introduced several Israeli technology companies into the global market. At Sales Gate, Lifshitz worked closely with technology, telecommunication, networking, and tech equipment companies including BT, Softbank, Fujitsu, NTT group and others.[6][7]

In 2010, Lifshitz joined and became a partner in Blumberg Capitals, an early-stage venture capital firm. He supervised investment in several startups and sat on the board of the , companies including Credorax, FeeX, Fundbox, SQream, Yotpo, BioCatch, ZOOZ, Palo Alto Networks Israel, Deep Instinct, Panoply, SAM Seamless Network, Apester, Cybellum, IntSights, and others.[8][9]

Lifshitz started focusing on private corporate investment, technology, and acquisitions and has been involved in the Israeli, European and Japanese technology markets for more than 22 years now. Currently, he acts as the Israeli representative for technology opportunities for British Telecom and IAG Group.[10]

Hanaco Ventures

In July 2017, Lifshitz co-founded Hanaco Ventures along with Pasha Romanovski and Lior Prosor. As of 2020, the company manages over $400 million raised in its early-stage and late stage investment funds. Since then, Lifshitz has overseen the investment in high profile companies including Via, Namogoo, Fundbox, Yotpo, Sqream, Puls, DigitalOcean, Moovit, Namogoo, American Well, Puls, Cheetah, Solidus, Cnvrg.io, Yotpo, Airbud Technologies, STRIGO, Redefine Meat, Sepio Systems, and others. Under his leadership, the company right now holds 25 investments. [11][12]
