She is an advocate for innovation, diversity, and accessibility in the field of AI; in her career so far, she has addressed the European Commission, drafted foreign AI strategies, and created eight guidebooks to educate businesses on how to build successful AI projects[2].

Education

Allie K. Miller attended Dartmouth College for her undergraduate studies, from which she graduated cum laude in 2013 with a degree in Cognitive Science[3][4][5]. While attending, she won a national advertising competition for Hasbro[6]. Miller also conducted research in natural language processing, and interned at tech startup GoodLux Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which created the first-ever personal sun-exposure tracker for depression management, SunSprite[7].

Miller then pursued an MBA at University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. There, under advisement from professor Adam Grant, she recruited students and co-founded the Penn AI initiative, which eventually grew into a $5-million curriculum at Wharton as of 2020[1]; today, the Wharton AI for Business program supports students and professionals in their development of AI applications using an experiential learning approach[8].

Career

After graduating from Dartmouth, Miller returned to GoodLux to become a head of product specializing in user growth and product development[1][9].

She then spent three years at IBM Watson, where she helped the company advance its product development in conversational AI, computer vision, and multi-modal AI. Promoted to Lead Project Manager, she led a team of 30 engineers to build IBM's first-ever trained multi-modal AI system[10]. Moreover, Miller advised over 150 Fortune 500 clients on computer vision technology for use cases such as photo analysis, inspections, insurance, fraud detection, and media tracking[9].

From 2019 to 2022, Miller worked at Amazon Web Services as the Global Head of Machine Learning Business Development for Startups and Venture Capital[1]. There, she consulted startup companies on the development of human-centered, scalable artificial intelligence products.
