Political Stance

In September 2021, Shagieva was involved in a public artistic protest calling for the release of political prisoners in Kyrgyzstan.[9][10][11] The protest took place at Ala-Too square in Bishkek, near the White House, and was marked by the questioning of political activists by State security officers and a gathering of 500 individuals[12] at a nearby stadium to support the Interior Ministry in maintaining "public order." [13]The exhibition by Aliya Shagieva, which focused on political prisoners in Kyrgyzstan, took place in the country's main square and garnered significant media coverage.[9]

Shagieva is also noted for her support of opposition political movements. In 2019, during the raid on the opposition headquarters in Koi-Tash, she reported on the events through social media for various news platforms.[14][15]
