Alican Peker (also known as Ali Can Peker; born 11 February 1991 in Izmir, Turkey[1]) is a Turkish actor, sculptor, fashion model[2], and former basketball and handball player. His Scandinavian look made him a typecast in several history dramas[3][4][5][6], which paved the way to many other roles in the following years.

Early life and family

Alican Peker was born on 11 February 1991 in a town in Izmir, Turkey to Selahattin and Aylin Peker. Peker went to İzmir Buca Ortaokulu and Buca Lisesi (now Buca Fen Lisesi). He further studied Ceramics and Glass at Dokuz Eylul University, Faculty of Fine Arts. Following his undergraduate studies, he joined Peramart Ali Sunal Acting Workshop for nine months to improve his acting skills. Peker also attended Bigg Dega Project Development Institute to learn about entrepreneurship fundamentals.

Career

His first appearance in the business was with the movie Türkler Geliyor[6] in 2020, in which he played Vladic, a Serbian commander. In the same year, he appeared in Uyanış: Büyük Selçuklu as Frenk[5] on the Turkish national television–TRT 1. Peker's typecast look led him to lead in a documentary called Tarihin Efsaneleri[3], where he acted as Velid Bin Velid, which was aired on TRT Belgelsel. Following these two historical dramas, he played another typecast in the second season of Netflix's Rise of Empires: Ottoman as Wallachian commander Gales[4].

A breaking point of Peker's typecast persistence was with a Turkish streaming platform BluTV's series Alef: Mâl-i Hülya[7], which was aired in 2022, where he played Hakan Muvakkit.
