Alexandre Martinez is a French American civil engineer, entrepreneur, and researcher. He is currently researcher in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Irvine.[1]

Early life and education

Martinez was born in 1989 in Hon-Hergies in France. He received his engineering degree from the École centrale de Lille and his MSc in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013. He then studied at the University of California, Irvine within the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2016 where he is getting his Ph.D.

Career

Martinez joined the University of California, Irvine as a doctoral researcher in 2016.
Martinez created the ClimateVR[2] in 2019, an initative to use new technologies for climate change outreach, knoweldge dissemination, and science communication. He won the prestigious New Face of Civil Engineering - Professional from the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2020[3], and was named fellow of the Clinton Global Initiative in 2021.

Research

Martinez has conducted research focusing on hydrology, statistics, climatology and remote sensing to address global water resource issues.
