Alexander Mathew is an Indian film producer and production designer who works predominantly in the Malayalam Film Industry.[citation needed] He began his career in Malayalam Cinema in the early 90s and his first Malayalam Cinema Vadhu Doctoranu (1994).[citation needed] He launched his own film production company Pooyappally Films.[citation needed] His second venture, Oru Maravathoor Kanavu (1998) as Lal Jose’s directorial debut with Mammootty in lead role.[citation needed] Later, he was part of production houses Double Decker Dreams and 100th Monkey Movies.[citation needed] His subsequent films, Pattalam (2003) and KL10 Pathu (2015) were also successful, while Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu[1] (2017) became an award winning film in his career.
Career
Alexander began his career as a producer in the early 90s.[citation needed] His first film venture Vadhu Doctoranu directed by K K Haridas starring Jayaram and Nadia Moidu in lead roles.[citation needed]
In 1998, he produced in association with film production company Kokers Films and made Mammootty-starrer Oru Maravathoor Kanavu, which despite having a cold response in the theaters later went to be one of the hit movies in Malayalam Cinema. The movie also marked the debut of popular film director Lal Jose. He was the production designer of Malayalam movie Pattalam, and later producer of movies KL10 Pathu and Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu.[citation needed]
In 2017, was a producer for Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu, which won three Kerala State Film Awards[2] for Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value, Best Sync Sound (for Smijith Kumar), and Best Child Artist (for Nakshatra). The film, directed by Ranjan Pramod and featuring Biju Menon in the lead role, received widespread critical acclaim and was a box office success. Receiving Kerala State Film Award from Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan and other dignitaries.
