Alexander Marcus Dan Aurel Kuch (born 19 April 1995)[1] is an Romanian born, German-New Zealand adoption advocate. Kuch began his advocacy by giving his first speech at the Romanian Parliament in 2013.[2][3][4] Since then he has spoken with his advocacy outside New Zealand, including Malaysia, Australia, Canada and Switzerland.[5][6] In 2018 Kuch was made a semi-finalist for Young New Zealander of the year, as part of the New Zealander of the Year Awards|2018 New Zealander of the Year Awards. In the same year Kuch received the AIMES Service Award for his advocacy in 2018.[7][8][9]

Career

Kuch started his adoption advocacy in 2013 when he gave his first speech in the Romanian parliament sharing his personal experiences and subsequently also spoke again in 2015.[10][11][12] In 2017 he was apart of the Global Changemakers Forum that was held in Zurich, Switzerland. Kuch has also spoken at numerous international forums such as the ASEM Forum and TEDx talk in Malaysia in 2018.[13][14][15] Kuch has also been involved with the organization I'm Adopted, which is based in New Zealand.[16]

Personal life

Kuch was born in the town of Cluj-Napoca, Romania in the Transylvania region.[17] He was adopted by his German parents Walter and Heidi in 1997 and then moved to New Zealand with his family in 2006.[18][19] He attended Kings Way School from 2007 until 2013.[20][21]

Kuch has received numerous awards and honors for his adoption advocacy.[22][23][24] His total list of achievements and honors include the following:
