Alex Dilmaghani (born 29 July 1991) is a British professional boxer. He has challenged for once for IBO super featherweight title in 2019 and EBU European Super Feather title in 2020.
Professional career
Dilmaghani made his professional debut in April 2009 in London, United Kingdom defeating Baz Carey in a four-round points victory.[1]
Following the completion of his law degree and inability to secure fights in England, Dilmaghani moved to Mexico City to train under Ignacio Beristáin where he frequently sparred Juan Manuel Márquez. After fighting abroad for several years, Dilmaghani signed with Mick Hennessy and made his ring return to the United Kingdom on 25 May 2019 winning via TKO in round 8 against Martin Parlagi.[2]
In November 2019, Dilmaghani fought for the IBO super featherweight world title against Francisco Fonseca (boxer) which ended in a Draw. The fight reached just under 2 million viewers on Channel 5 (British TV channel) national television.[3] In September 2020, after challenging Samir Ziani for the EBU European Super Feather title, despite being ahead on the judges scorecard going into the last round, Dilmaghani was stopped with 9 seconds left.[4]
