Alan Arnette (born July 27, 1956, Memphis, Tennessee) is an American author.[1][2], journalist[3], professional speaker[4][5] climbing coach, Alzheimer’s Advocate[6], and mountaineer.

Mountaineering

Arnette began climbing at age 38 while living in Switzerland, climbing the highest peak in Western Europe, Mont Blanc, at 15,771 feet. He has completed over 37 major expeditions, including summiting K2 in 2014, when he became the 18th and oldest American to summit it. He summited Mt. Everest in 2011[7] and the fore-summit of Manaslu[8] in 2013, plus the seven of the eight 7 Summits, including Mount Everest and all 58 List Colorado 14,000-foot peaks.

Arnette undertook The 7 Summits Climb for Alzheimer’s: Memories are Everything campaign[9] by climbing the highest peak on the Seven Continents, the 7 Summits in 2010 and 2011, to raise awareness and research funds for Alzheimer's non-profits. He was sponsored by Janssen Alzheimer’s Immunotherapy and a joint venture of Johnson and Johnson and Pfizer. He summitted all seven of the eight except for Denali. HIs campaign raised funds for the Alzheimer's Association, the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, and the National Family Caregivers Association.

In 2014, Arnette summit K2 at 28,251 feet to become the oldest American at age 58.[10][11][12]
