Akhenaton Thomas is an American professional and civic leader who has made significant contributions to his community in Tallahassee, FL. Born and raised in Detroit, MI, he relocated to Tallahassee, FL in 2006 to pursue his higher education at Tallahassee Community College. Continuing his academic journey, he attended Florida State University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Political Science, a Master's of Public Administration, and a Master's certification in Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

He is known to serve as a guest lecturer on both Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and Florida State University his alma mater[1]. In addition, he has led many discussions throughout the Tallahassee community informing youth about African American History and inspiring young minds to become thought leaders and change agents in their surrounding community.

Thomas's professional career took off with an internship in the office of the City Manager, working under the administration of Anita Favors. Since then, he has served under two Mayoral Administrations as the Administrative Coordinator, showcasing his dedication to public service and administrative expertise.

Recognized for his commitment to mentoring and community engagement, Akhenaton Thomas spearheaded the impactful 1000 Mentor's Initiative. Through collaboration with various mentoring organizations, he nearly recruited 1000 individuals to become mentors, fostering positive mentorship relationships in the community[2]. Additionally, he served as the representative in Tallahassee for My Brother’s Keeper initiative during President Obama’s term, amplifying the voices and needs of marginalized communities.

Currently, Thomas holds the esteemed position of Aide to City Commissioner Curtis Richardson. In this role, he provides crucial support and guidance in executing the commissioner's vision and initiatives. He also demonstrated exceptional leadership skills as the Campaign Manager for Curtis Richardson's successful re-election bid in 2020, overseeing a strategic campaign that resonated with constituents.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Akhenaton Thomas actively engages in numerous civic organizations dedicated to serving the local community. His involvement includes Progressive Black Men, Inc., where he contributes to uplifting and empowering black men, as well as serving as the Worshipful Master of Mt. Olive Lodge #5 Freemasons Prince Hall Affiliated. He is also affiliated with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Omega Lamplighters, and has held the position of Past President of the National Pan Hellenic Council. Notably, Thomas is an alumnus of New Leaders Council Class 7 and Choose Tallahassee, organizations that cultivate leadership and promote community development.

In addition, he is the host of the House of Aten Black History and Leadership series on Youtube which discovers the dynamics of leadership while tying in the achievements and philosophy of African American thought leaders.
