Aether Gazer (codename: "Mimir") is a 3D team-fight ARPG developed by Xiamen Yongshi Technology. It was first released in Chinese mainland on Apr. 22, 2022, and its global version, published by Yostar Limited, underwent a closed beta test between Oct. 11 and Oct. 21, 2022.

Gameplay

Aether Gazer is an ARPG where the player act as an Administrator who leads a squad of up to three units ("Modifiers") to fight the enemy, each Modifier possessing unique attack modes and attributes.

Certain Modifiers can create synergy when they work together, unleashing a unique "skillchain" that deals greater damage, accompanied by a special animation effect.

Within the three-person squad, one Modifier is controlled by the player while the other two, by the system. The player may not switch to another character while clearing a stage.

Story

The game's story takes place in what remains of the old world following a catastrophic event. The survivors of this world have uploaded their consciousness to Gaea, a virtual network, in a bid to keep the flame of life burning. However, Gaea has turned out to be a less-than-risk-free refuge. As time goes on, monsters known as "Visbanes" emerge from the network's data Source Layer, and these monsters have one thing in their sights: human civilization.

In response to the Visbane threat, Gaea's self-check programs evolve into physical entities in human form which are deemed as the personifications of "Deities," more capable of intervention. They are the Modifiers. The player joins Aether Gazer as Administrator of the Modifiers and works with them to venture into the depths of danger, battling the nefarious Visbanes and rewriting the toppling fate against all odds...

Characters

Modifiers

At the start, the players will be introduced to Modifiers from five different Gen-zones: Yggdrasill, Olympus, Shinou, Nile, and Asterism. Modifiers of the same Gen-zone trigger Gen-zone bonuses when teaming up. There are four kinds of combat resources in the game: Traces, Rage, Energy, and Divine Grace. In addition, each Modifier has a special attack attribute (Light, Shadow, Thunder, Fire, Wind, Water, Ice, Physical) that allows them to deal additional damage to certain Visbanes.

Yggdrasill

Verthandi

Verthandi is a member of the Rookie Squad who has just passed the tests required to join Aether Gazer's Special Task Force. She is so optimistic and outgoing, it seems nothing can bring her down.

Tyr

A member of Aether Gazer's Board of Directors and currently the head of Division Three.

Hodur

Hodur is a member of the Intelligence Office and has an elder twin sister, Baldr. Unlike Baldr, who has a breezy and easygoing disposition, Hodur is quieter and tends to keep to herself.

Vidar

A Modifier brought back from an ice-sealed section of a Sephirah Zone. Her years of living alone have left her with a cold and unapproachable personality, and rendered her not quite adept at interacting with other people.

Olympus

Poseidon

A core member of Division Nine in Aether Gazer. Poseidon is more proficient at using Divine Power to provide support to her teammates than fighting head-on with Visbanes.

Hera

Hera is a Modifier who belongs to the Society of Muses and also a well-known lady in the Omorfies Sephirah Zone. She is widely known in high society for her beauty as well as her regal demeanor and elegance of style.

Apollo

A member of Aether Gazer's Thunder Squad. He is an adept Archer who specializes in taking down enemies with his bow and arrow which he claims has a 100% hit rate.

Shinou

Zenkibo Tengu

Lively and carefree Zenkibo is the biggest troublemaker in Aether Gazer. She spends all her excess energy on pulling pranks and claims to have an invisible friend called Goki. No one knows if Goki exists or not.

Tsukuyomi

A Modifier who holds herself to incredible standards, and serves as the leader of the Pheasant Squad. Though Tsukuyomi does not say much, her concise combat analysis always hits the spot, thus making her a reliable one that can be trusted with any task.

Kuninotokotachi

This stealthy white-haired Mod is very likely to be spotted at all the big festivals. Seemingly rather flippant, she likes to tease her juniors.

Kagutsuchi

Leader of the Sasanami Karasugo family's Kyū Squad and a master of the art of goofing off. Likes to go fishing alone at the lake.

Ookuninushi

A young girl who joined Aether Gazer on the condition that she would be allowed free rein to research and invent. She is currently working as a member of The Cryptics.

Buzenbo Tengu

Buzenbo has trained in traditional sword skills ever since she was little. Besides learning how to conquer her enemies with her blade, she has also learned to protect the weak as well as the importance of manners, restraint, and respecting her master.

Nile

Shu

From a practical point of view, Shu is really the one who handles Aether Gazer's administrative duties. This trainer of admin is admired by her younger comrades and trusted by her seniors to help out with all sorts of tasks.

The most popular Modifier at headquarters, and affectionally called "Lil' Osi" by many.

An orphan who grew up in the wilderness. Even though Sobek has awakened as a Modifier, he does not care too much about saving the world. Now a member of the Children of Iron, he often wears a crocodile headgear to frighten his enemies.

Leviathan

Leviathan is always full of energy, and a real ditzy cutie pie.

Asura

A martial arts enthusiast who travels around, constantly challenging the strong with the aim of becoming the best fighter in the world. She is concerned with nothing other than growing stronger and stronger. Her immense power aside, she is not exactly a sophisticated thinker.

Nuadha

A mechanical engineer who constantly challenges himself with all sorts of novel and even implausible designs. Nuadha is a long-term partner of Aether Gazer who specializes in actualizing The Cryptics' inventions.
