Adrienne Bankert (born May 6, 1979), an American journalist, is currently co-anchor with Markie Martin on Morning in America on NewsNation. The NewsNation website describes her as "An Emmy award-winning journalist, Bankert joined NewsNation in April 2021 as an anchor/correspondent. She covered national affairs and delivered special reports across the network's prime-time weeknight news broadcasts."[1]

Early life

Adrienne Nicole Bankert, the daughter of Paulette Reynolds and Ralph Bankert, was born on May 6, 1979 in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. In an interview on YouTube, Bankert told media personality Noah Wilson that she was born in a big town, Los Angeles and raised in a small town with a population of less than 13,000, Sheridan California about 38 miles from Sacramento.[2] Some websites erroneously give Sacramento as her city of birth. She worked at a McDonald’s drive-thru to pay her way through college and still wears a necklace in the shape of a French fry as a way to remember the hard work involved in her career journey. Bankert worked at the fast-food restaurant long enough to become a manager but, preferring to focus on her studies, turned the position down when it was offered to her.

Career

After graduating from the University of Southern California, Bankert began her career in broadcast news as a reporter on KCRA in Sacramento in October 2004 covering major events such as forest fires in California, the discovery of the missing child Jaycee Dugard, the earthquake and tsunami in Japan in 2011 and the 2010 Governor’s race won by Jerry Brown.

She left KCRA in 2012 after securing a newscaster and reporter job with channel 11, KTVT in Fort Worth. In 2015 Bankert moved to Los Angeles where she was hired as a news anchor and reporter at KABC, becoming a regular on World News Tonight and Good Morning America, covering major stories including the 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns, the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the rescue of a youth soccer team trapped in a Thailand cave and the murder of rapper Nipsey Hussle. She has interviewed giants in the entertainment industry such as Oprah Winfrey, Brad Pitt, Lady Gaga, Harrison Ford, Viola Davis, Dwayne Johnson and Will Smith.

She had been the sole anchor of Morning in America since April 2021 but began co-anchoring with Markie Martin in June 2023. The program, which originates from Chicago, is on Monday through Friday from 6 A.M. until 10 A.M. Eastern Standard Time.
