Adrian Vasile But (born September 21, 1998), known professionally as AdyB, is a Romanian hip-hop artist and actor from Oradea, Romania.

Early life

Adrian Vasile But was born on September 21, 1998, in Oradea, Romania. As an infant, he was given into the care of his aunt by his father, separating him from his immediate family. At the age of twelve, following his parents' divorce and his mother gaining custody of all five children, the family was reunited and immigrated to Munich, Germany. There, AdyB and his siblings were raised by their mother under modest circumstances.

After arriving in Germany, the family lived in a one-bedroom apartment. Around this time, AdyB discovered his passion for hip-hop, initially writing lyrics in Romanian, then German, and eventually in English. At sixteen, he traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio, on a government-funded two-week exchange program, which marked the beginning of his connection to the United States.

Musical career

At eighteen, AdyB traveled to New York City, where he recorded one of his first mixtapes, 81539, at Lost Studios in Mill Basin, Brooklyn. He went on to release several projects including De Cartier, De Cartier 2, Knw Thyslf, and As Above So Below between 2019 and 2024.

He gained viral attention on social media for rapping in three languages, which led to the release of his trilingual Three Piece EP. This exposure attracted recognition from notable figures such as Timbaland and Connect-R. Through his collaboration with German Grammy-nominated producer Shuko—signed to Timbaland's camp—via their mutual work with Kimmø, they released the single "OKAY" as part of the joint EP Wildhearts.

In 2025, AdyB released Harmonia, a collaborative project with Faust, a former member of Subcarpați and prominent figure in Romania’s underground scene and continued pursuing his path as an independent artist.

Acting career

Adrian Vasile But began his acting career in 2020 with background roles and appearances in student films. In 2021, he took a three-month course at Identity School of Acting in Brixton, South London. Upon returning to Germany, he became involved with stabil e.V.[1], a non-profit organization supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in accessing the acting industry. Through this connection, he landed his first lead role in the long-running German TV series Tatort (Tatort: Donuts[2]).

He went on to join the main cast of the German Screen Acting Award (Deutscher Schauspielpreis)-winning series Zeit Verbrechen, and played a significant role in episodes 3, 4 and 6 of the Apple TV+ original series Berlin ER, among other television productions in Germany.
