Adia Sowho is a Nigerian tech executive. She currently serves as the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Group.[1][2] She has designed, built and scaled tech-driven platform companies in emerging markets.[3][4]

Education

Adia completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Shellfield with a degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. She studied further and completed her MBA at the Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

Career

Adia started her career as a Radio Frequency Engineer at the US Cellular Corporation in 2001. In 2007, she began working as a Management Consultant for Deloitte Consulting LLP. She relocated to Nigeria three years later, joining Etisalat Nigeria (now 9mobile), where she held a number of senior positions until her retirement in 2018. During her stay at 9mobile she was the Head of Strategy and Business Development, Head of Digital Media, and Director for Digital Business[5] [6]at different times. Between 2018 to 2020, she served as the Managing Director of Migo (formerly mines.io)[7] in Nigeria and Vice President of Growth at the organization.[8] In 2020, Adia was appointed as the interim CEO Thrive Agric, an agriculture fintech that was going through a pandemic induced financial crisis.[9][10]

In August 2021, she was appointed as the first female Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Group.
