Adam Ďurica (born 1 November 1987) is a Slovak singer and composer.
Early life
Ďurica was born on 1 November 1987 in Nitra.[1] His father is an engineer, whilst his mother Milena Ďuricová, is a visual artist.[2] He served as a bass guitarist and singer in the band Analogia.[3] Growing up, Ďurica idolised late pop/rock singer Miroslav Žbirka.[4]
Ďurica developed a musical interest when he was a teenager, in which he was listening to songs by Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers with his friends. He stated that the first song they composed, "Obraz bez razmu", was inspired by both said bands.[5]
Career
In 2006, Ďurica released his first single titled "Tam kde slnko (Koľko zákrut majú cesty)" (Template:Lit).[6]
After winning the Carphatia International Festival of Young Musicians in Poland in 2009, Ďurica announced that he would prepare a tour one year later. Although the CD was intended for Poles, Ďurica recorded it in Slovak.[7]
In 2012, thanks to his successful performance in the first season of SuperStar Search Slovakia, Ďurica decided to follow up on the success of the television gala program Legends of Pop. He dedicated his song, "Mám ťa rád" (I Like You), to late pop singer Karol Duchoň for his nationwide concert tour.[8]
In May 2014, Ďurica released the song "Neľutujem", which became the most-played song on Slovak radio.[9] The same year in June, he wrote the song "Miesta" (Places) featuring Zuzana Smatanová,[10] produced by Marek Rakovický.[11]
On 27 June 2016, Ďurica released the song "Spolu" (Together),[12] with a concert being held later in October.[13]
Personal life
On 29 June 2017, Ďurica married his long-time girlfriend, Kristína.[14] Their first son, Timotej, was born the same day as Ďurica's 31st birthday on 1 November 2018.[15] On 10 April, the couple's second son, Benjamín, was born.[16]
Ďurica spends his free time motorcycling.[17]
