Abiola Arogundade (born 22 November 1979), hails from Ondo State, South West Nigeria, is a Nigerian politician currently serving as the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship Education.[1][2] She previously served as the Technical Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari[3] on Delivery in the Office of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and was a member of Ahmed Bola Tinubu presidential campaign council for the 2023 Nigeria presidential elections which they won.

Early life and education

Abiola was born on 22 November, 1979 in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. She earned her BSc in Business Management and I.T with Honors in 2003 at University of Hull, United Kingdom. In 2004, she obtained an MBA in Business Administration, also fromt the University of Hull, United Kingdom.

Personal life

Abiola Arogundade was born into the familial household of Mr. and Mrs. Arogundade in Ondo State, Nigeria.

Career

Abiola's career began as a Policy Researcher for the All Parliamentary Party Group for Africa at the British House of Commons from 2004 to 2009, under Prime Minister Tony Blair. Her work focused on advising Members of Parliament on governance-related topics in Africa.

Political career

Abiola Arogudade is a member of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress. She began her political career in 2009 as the Senior Special Assistant on Economic Planning to the then Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, a position she held from 2009 to 2015.

In the year 2011, she became an integral member of the Minister of Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga's team, assuming the role of Special Assistant. Her primary duty involved the implementation of the Ministry's Foreign Investment Promotion Strategy, wherein she collaborated closely with the Nigeria Investment Promotion Council.[4]

From 2016 and 2018, she served as the Technical Assistant on Private Sector in the office of the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sustainable Development Goals, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire. In 2018, she became a Technical Assistant[3] to the President on Delivery, focusing on priority projects and monitoring and evaluation.

In 2022, she joined the campaign team of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) for Nigeria's 2023 General Elections. Currently, she is the senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Vocational, Technical, and Entrepreneurship Education since her appointment in September 2023[1][5]

Office duties

Following her appointment as the Senior Special Assistant[1] to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, she has played a pivotal role in initiating a partnership agreement with Yikodeen,[6] a footwear manufacturing company to establish a comprehensive shoemaking and leather crafting training program.[7]

Additionally, she actively purusues collaboration with the National Assembly to promote skills-driven education in Nigeria, aiming to mitigate the rising unemployment rate within the country.[8][9]
