Abhishek Dutta is a fashion designer, retailer, and couturier from Kolkata, India. Being a graduate who received his fashion degree from Wigan and Leigh College. Since 1999, he has sold designer merchandise both nationally and internationally under his eponymous label "Abhishek Dutta" He has been honored with the Bharat Nirman Award in 2013 for his contribution to the field of Indian Fashion. He has also designed costumes for Tollywood and Bollywood films. He has also been an FDCI registered member for the past 20 years and of the CIA East Textile Board.
Early Life
Abhishek Dutta was born in a Bengali family in Kolkata, India. He studied at South Point High School and graduated from Wigan and Leigh College. Even though being a science graduate, he had a keen interest in the line of creativity and his love for self-exploring having the need to achieve a creative goal brought him into fashion.
CAREER
Design Philosophy
Abhishek Dutta concentrates on mixing up wearable clothes with unconventional fabrics like denim, leather, velvet, mesh, etc. along with the fusion of embroidery and Indian handloom with other artwork. Thus the style line inclines toward the genre of Avant-garde, at times making him step ahead of others. He would provide a variety of choices and alternatives to his clients ranging from women's wear to men's wear thus from Indian silhouettes to Western thus matching the taste of all. There is originality and a lot of creativity in his style, class, and allure of mystery which the label has to offer. His love for experimental garments and working with handloom and natural fabrics having asymmetrical cuts is one of the many distinctive features it has.
