Abdallah Madjidi (Arabic: عبد الله مجيدي; born 11 September 1999) is an Algerian novelist and short story writer. He is known for his lyrical prose, emotional depth, and exploration of themes such as memory, identity, family relationships, and rural Algerian life. In 2021, he was shortlisted for the Arab World Prize in Paris, gaining recognition in the contemporary Arabic literary scene.
Early life and education
Madjidi was born in Aïn Melih, M’Sila Province, Algeria, and grew up in the municipality of Mohamed Boudiaf (formerly Oued Echair). He studied Monetary and Banking Economics at Mohamed Boudiaf University in M’Sila. Despite pursuing an academic path in economics, he developed a strong passion for literature from an early age.
Career
Madjidi began publishing his works online before moving into print. His first digital novel, I Will Always Love You, was released in 2019. That same year, he published his first printed short story collection, Harsh Embraces.
He later released two additional novels:
- Whom Should I Blame, Father? – a novel addressing themes of guilt, family tension, and emotional conflict.
- Walking in the Footsteps of the Ancestors – a reflective novel centered on heritage, memory, and identity.
