Aarav Kumar Bhatia (born September 15, 2002) is an Indian student and martial artist, widely recognized as the son of Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna.[1] Despite his family's prominence in the film industry, Aarav has chosen to pursue his own path, focusing on education and personal interests outside of cinema.[2]
Early Life and Family
Aarav was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, into a family deeply rooted in the Indian film industry. His father, Akshay Kumar, is a renowned actor and martial artist, while his mother, Twinkle Khanna, is an actress-turned-author. He is the grandson of legendary actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. Aarav has a younger sister, Nitara Kumar Bhatia.[3]
Education
Aarav began his education at École Mondiale World School in Juhu, Mumbai. He later attended the United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA) in Tampines, Singapore. Currently, he is pursuing higher studies in London, focusing on fashion design. His father, Akshay Kumar, has mentioned that Aarav is keen on establishing a career in fashion design and prefers to achieve this independently, without leveraging his family's industry connections.[4]
Martial Arts and Achievements
Following in his father's footsteps, Aarav developed an interest in martial arts from a young age.[5] He began training at the age of four and has earned black belts in Okinawa, Kudo, and Goju Ryu Karate.[6] Additionally, he secured a gold medal in the National Championship of Judo. At the age of seven, Aarav was honored with the "Green Globe for Outstanding Contribution by a Child" award for sponsoring a village under the 'Light a Billion Lives' campaign.[7][8]
Personal Interests and Public Appearances
Aarav maintains a relatively private life, focusing on his studies and personal interests. He has a passion for cooking and has undertaken culinary training in London.[9]
In 2016, during the International Fleet Review, a photograph of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi playfully pulling Aarav's ear garnered media attention, highlighting Aarav's presence at significant public events.[10]
