Aaliyah Qureishi, also known by her stage name Jhalli (born 19 October 1996), is an Indian actor, singer, songwriter, and music producer who works in Indian films and web series.[1] She is best known for playing Janvi in the 2023 film Jawan and Jia in the 2022 Netflix series Eternally Confused and Eager for Love.
Early life
Aaliyah was born and raised in Mumbai, India.[2] She graduated from University of Southern California in 2018 after studying Psychology and Music.[3][4]
Career
Qureishi, under her stage name Jhalli, has put out an entire discography of songs independently, including her EP "Why Should I?" which was featured by Rolling Stone India, and two self-produced Hindi singles, "Mukaddar" and "Paraye".[5][6] She also released a self-produced dance pop single called "Don't Come Back".[5]
Jhalli appeared in several Indian commercials before landing a large acting role.[3] Her first television role was on the Tiger Baby/ Excel Netflix web series Eternally Confused and Eager for Love, where she played the character of Jiah, appearing in episodes 1 and 6. She then went on to play Janvi, one of the six girls in Shah Rukh Khan's girl squad in Jawan.
