The 1948 Lands are the lands of the former Mandatory Palestine that fell under Jewish control after the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, and includes the whole mandate with the exception of the West Gaza strip.[1]

The term 1948 lands originated soon after 1948 |the Nakba, or the 1948 Palestinian war and exodus, with the Arab refusal to recognize the "Zionist entity" (Israel). The State of Israel was not recognized until 1978 when the Camp David Accords were signed where Egypt recognized Israel and then in 1993. The Palestine Liberation Organization recognized the State of Israel, then in 1994 recognized the state of Israel, and other Arab countries began normalizing thereafter. [2]
