Yaniv Fridel (Hebrew: יניב פרידל) is a British and Israeli music composer, producer, and sound designer, working in the field of, film, television, and theatre productions and artist productions. He worked with Idris Elba, Diplo, Lethal Bizzle, the BBC, The National Theatre UK, Maxim Gorki and Schaubühne theatre in Berlin.

Since 2016, Fridel is Head Producer and Managing Director at Soho Sonic Studios, London He is also Managing Director of Make This Noise, a London-based music production and publishing company that specialises in audio branding, music for TV commercials, digital and sponsorship, songwriting, and music composition. From 2006 to 2012, Fridel served as managing director of Shriek, a media production company for music and sound design.

Some of Fridel's projects include Slippery Slope (2021). He won the Theatertreffen award for a musical directed by Yael Ronen at Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin. He was part of ‘’Life Unexpected (2020)’’, a short film directed by Oscar winner Guy Nattiv, ‘’A King for a Term’’(2015), a film written and directed by Idris Elba, User not Found (2020), a video podcast for Dante or Die Theatre directed by Daphna Attias, Romiti Management LA (2020), where he wrote and produced two songs for Toni Romiti's latest album, and Channel 4 - The Box (2020), where he wrote and produced the Power Players show.

Fridel composed music for TV networks and gaming companies such as the BBC, Sky, Ubisoftand Universal Channel. In 2014, Fridel played a key role in the recent sonic rebrand for NBC Universal, he developed a new sonic identity for the channel tobe used in 120 countries. The channel's sound underwent a complete overhaul, resulting in a distinctive and unified audio identity that resonated with audiences worldwide

In 2016, Fridel formed a producer-duo with Ofer Shabi, known as OJ & Fridel. The duo is known for their work in contemporary pop music, documentary film composition and theatre score.

Theatre work

Fridel began his career in theatre composition in 2005 as the music director for Dante or Die. He has since worked as a composer and sound designer for various productions, including "I Do", "La Fille La Mode", "Side Effect", "Caliper Boy", "User Not Found", and "Skin Hunger".

In 2011, Fridel began collaborating with director Yael Ronen, serving as the main composer and sound designer for productions such as "The Day Before the Last Day" at Schaubuehne Theatre Berlin, "The Situation", "Winterreise", "Roma Armee", "Yes But No", "Operation Mindfuck", and "Blood Moon Blues" at Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin.

In 2019, Fridel teamed up with Ofer Shabi as composer and sound designer for "R-evolution" at Thalia-Theater Hamburg. He is known for collaborating with Ofer Shabi as composer and sound designer [1] as well as "Genesis" at Munich Kammerspiele.

Early Career

Fridel began playing Tuba at the young age of seven. Between 1981 and 1997, he served as the principal Tuba player for the Israeli Youth Philharmonic Orchestra while also working as a freelancer for the Israeli Opera and the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, all while studying at the Tel Aviv Music Academy.

In 2002, Fridel moved to the United Kingdom and went on to complete his Master of Arts in Audio Production from the University of Westminster, London in 2003. In 2004, he joined Shriek Music and shortly thereafter, in 2006, he became the main composer for Al Jazeera International's news channel, composing title sequences for major shows such as People and Power, 101 East, Inside Story and more.
