Cao Anh Tuấn (born February 5, 1982, in Ha Noi, Vietnam) is a Vietnamese tech entrepreneur. He is the co-founder, and CTO of Genetica, a genetic decoding company.[1]

Biography

Before co-founding Genetica with Phạm Vũ Thanh Giang and Bùi Thanh Duyên, Tuấn worked as a software engineer at Yahoo!, a senior software engineer at Google, and a principal research scientist at Datometry.[2] [3]

Tuấn earned a bachelor's degree in computer engineering with distinction from Pune University in India in 2005. He received his master's degree in Computer Science from Cornell University in 2010, and then went on to complete his doctorate in the same field (Computer Science) also at Cornell University.[4]

It was during his time at Cornell University that he met Bùi Thanh Duyên, a researcher in Molecular Biology and Genetics, who later became his wife and another co-founder of Genetica in 2018.[5]

Tuấn admitted that one of the main motivators for him to launch Genetica was the "desire to do something for himself and create something for society," despite the fact that he could "live pretty well-off by the salary he earned at Google."[6]

Business career

Anh Tuấn founded Gene Friend Way in 2018, based on the name of a road that he described as "the most beautiful road in all of San Francisco." Gene Friend Way is the US-based headquarter of Genetica, which has operating offices in Vietnam and Singapore.[7]

Genetica raised US$2.5 million in 2021 from venture capitalists including Dave Strohm, Craig Sherman, and Guy Miasnik. In 2022, Genetica partnered with Oasis Labs in San Francisco, California, to give their customers the ability to fully control their genetic data and how it is used by enabling the distribution of GeneNFT (or tokenized ownership of people's genetic data).[8]

Personal life

Tuấn and Duyên had a daughter together.
