OccupationPrincipal at Glenunga International High School

Wendy Johnson [1] is the current Principal of Glenunga International High School.[2] and the Vice President of the South Australian Secondary Principals' Association[3]. She was the only SA representative and current principal on the Gonski Report Review panel[4].

Johnson is particularly noted for her input to Through Growth to Achievement: Report of the Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools, whose recommendations have since been adopted by state jurisdictions to improve Australia's education system[4]. In 2018, the John Gardner (minister) MP announced an independent review into the Stage 2 requirements for the South Australian Certificate of Education, which was lead by Johnson and contained 16 recommendations[5]. In 2021, Johnson was a finalist for the The Advertiser (Adelaide) Women of the Year Awards[6].

Johnson has expressed her concern at a blanket ban on mobile phones in the secondary school system, instead suggesting a coaching model that teaches students to use self restraint as a better alternative[7].
