Waleran I (also Walram) († before 1032[1]) was count of Arlon. He was mentioned in the year 1052 and is considered to be the progenitor of the later Duchy of Limburg. Waleran of Arlon was married to Adelheid (Adele) of Lorraine, daughter of Duke Theodoric I, Duke of Upper Lorraine. Their son, also named Waleran I of Limburg, was probably the first Count of Limburg. In 1052 he concluded a Precarium treaty with the Archbishop of Trier Eberhard (archbishop of Trier) about property in the Eifel and on the lower Moselle.
