Ushkonyr mountain and plateau 50 km East of Almaty, a favorite starting point for skyflowers flying on ultralight paragliders and hang gliders. Every year in may and june, fans of free flight in the air from different countries meet on Ushkonyr to compete in hang gliding sports. Ushkonyr is recognized as the most versatile and convenient place that gives you the opportunity not only to compete, but also to enjoy the natural beauty. One of the most famous in CIS deltadromeus occupies an area of five hundred square kilometers. There are many flight-friendly slopes located here. Their surface is earthy and grassy. This place has a large relative height and a convenient access road. The start is formed by a sharp discharge of the Northern slope of Ushkonyr mountain into the valley. The southern part of Ushkonyr mountain smoothly turns into a high-altitude plateau. The ushkonyr tract is also known in the history of Zhetysu (Semirechye), as the place where on july 8, 1916, the Kazakh uprising began against the Tsar's decree on the mobilization of the "foreign population" of the Caucasus and the Asian part of the Empire for rear work (world war I was underway). The participants of the Congress decided: not to give dzhigits, not to go down from the mountains to the valley, and in case of coercion, to destroy the lists of conscripts, destroy the Telegraph, etc. Mass demonstrations of Kazakhs spread throughout Kazakhstan and took on the character of a national liberation uprising.
