Tim Pee (born July 17, 1976, in Kinngait (Cape Dorset), Baffin Island, Qikiqtaaluk Region, Nunavut, Canada) is an Inuk artist best known for his polar bear carvings.[1]
Family
Pee is the grandson of Kananginak Pootoogook, who was a carver and printmaker. He is also related to artists Johnny Pootoogook and Ashevak Adla.[2] Pee was raised in a traditional Inuit household and family.[3]
Career
Pee began carving when he was 15 years old, trained by Audla Pee.[2] He quickly became known for his polar bear sculptures. Pee creates bears walking, standing, or dancing, maintaining realistic proportions that make them seem lifelike.[3][4] He is a fulltime working artist, and has pieces in the collection of the Kenosha Public Museum.
