Tareq Hawasli (born 19 September 1979) is an Arab-American/British businessman and co-founder of Darin Partners, an independent investment advisory and asset management company based in St James's London.

Life and education

Tareq Hawasli was born in Detroit, Michigan to parents from Damascus and Homs, Syria. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Hawasli spent his summers in the Levant. After high school, he attended the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia where he pledged brotherhood at the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Tareq was later included in the UGA Alumni Association’s inaugural “40 Under 40” list (2011).[1] Hawasli completed the Management Acceleration Programme at INSEAD in 2006 and an MBA at London Business School (LBS) in 2010. Since 2017, he has been enrolled in the Harvard Business School’s[2] Owner/President Management programme and is a fellow at the laboratory for Innovation Science at Harvard (LISH).[3] Hawasli resides in Regents Park, London with his wife and three children.

Business activities

After relocating to London, England in 2010, Hawasli joined Evans Randall where he served as Executive Director, until 2014 when he co-founded Darin Partners.[4]

Aside from pairing real estate investment assets with GCC investors, Hawasli serves as the principal advisor for a number of families based in the GCC and has held board positions for: Sheffield United Football club, Phidar advisory, SHM Landscape, Goodwall and Kindlink.

In March 2016, Prince Abdullah bin Musa'ad bin Abdul Aziz asked Hawasli to represent him as a board director for SUFC, with a mandate to help turnaround the club towards promotion to the Premier league.[5] SUFC achieved promotion to the championship division in 2017, and to the Premier League in 2019.

Public speaking

Hawasli is an alumni panelist and moderator for both London Business School[6] and Harvard Business School. He has delivered business talks at UGA Oxford, Super Return Middle East, OPM Bridge, TiE and is an advocate for Women on Boards

In the Summer of 2020, Hawasli launched his podcast series "Tareq Talks" in which he speaks on sport, tech innovation, and real estate investments as well as politics, religion, and bridging the gap between the US, UK and GCC.
