Tarboro High

Tarboro High is a high school in Tarboro, North Carolina and is part of the Edgecombe County Public Schools district. In 2020, 70 percent of the student body was African American, about 20 percent white, and about 8 percent Hispanic. It is one of four high schools in the district.[1]
Tarboro High colors are purple, yellow, and white. Vikings are the school mascot.[2]
History
Tarboro Colored High School was established in 1907 and preceded[3][4] W. A. Pattillo High School, named for the school's principal who started at the job in 1920 and oversaw the school expanding to include a high school program in 1924.[4] Pattillo High School merged with Tarboro High in 1970 and is now a middle school.
In 2021, 3 teens from the school were killed in an automobile accident.[5]
Alumni
Several NFL players attended the school.
Running back Shaun Draughn graduated from the school as did defensive back Donald Frank, running back Kelvin Bryant and Bill Hull who played for the Dallas Texans in 1962.[6] Professional baseball player Mike Caldwell (baseball player)|Mike Caldwell also is an alumnus.[7] Tyquan Lewis was part of two state championship football teams at it.
