Saroj Pratap Rana rcds, psc is a Lieutenant General in the Nepal Army[1] and incumbent Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS). Before become Vice Chief of Nepal Army on 2nd Nov 2022 he was Assistant Chief of Army Staff (ACOAS).[2] He has been promoted to Lt. general from Major general on October 28, 2021[3].[4] Prior to join the current position, he served as Commander of North-West Division of Nepal Army.[5]
Career
Rana is graduate of Army Command and Staff College, Nepal and Royal College of Defence Studies, UK. He oversaw a Nepal-U.S. Joint Military Training after he assumes the duties of ACOAS.[6] As Corps Commander of the Corps of Intelligence he was in the committee which took initiative for repatriation of Nepalis living in Afghanistan after Taliban taken over in 2021.[7] Pratap Rana has been awarded the rank of Chariot Rank by Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma.[8]
