Sanjaya Mariwala is the executive chairman and managing director of OmniActive Health Technologies Ltd., a preventive healthcare company that he founded in 2004.[1]

He is also the President of the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He is also the founder-president of the Association of Herbal and Nutraceuticals Manufacturers of India (AHNMI), an industry body of 350-plus manufacturers of the nutraceutical industry in India. Mariwala believes India's nutraceuticals industry has the potential to expand to $25-30 billion placing India prominently in the global industry map due to the country's inherent advantages.[2]

Early life

In 1980 Sanjaya Mariwala joined his family business The Bombay Oil Industries group set up by his great-grandfather Kanji Morarji in 1911. He was associated with various businesses of the group, MARICO, VKL and others. He ran Kancor Ingredients Ltd, a pioneer in the extraction of spices like bell pepper, turmeric and paprika for 24 years. In 2014, he sold a majority stake of Kancor Ingredients to focus completely on the expansion of OmniActive Health Technologies.

Over the years he has tapped his vast experiences in the nutraceuticals industry, his technological expertise and a deep understanding of world-class manufacturing practices to build successful businesses.[3][4]

Career

Mariwala has over four decades of experience in the nutraceutical and natural ingredients industries. He founded OmniActive Health Technologies Ltd. in 2004, where he currently serves as the Executive Chairman and Managing Director. The company specializes in providing natural ingredients for health and wellness products and has become a significant global player in the nutraceutical sector under his leadership.

Mariwala is the Founder President of the Association of Herbal and Nutraceutical Manufacturers of India (AHNMI) and has served as the chair of the nutraceutical sub-committee of FICCI. He has also been actively involved with the Nutraceutical Task Force under the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India.

Mariwala has held key leadership roles in several industry organizations, including President of the India Pepper & Spice Trade Association and the All India Spices Exporters Forum. He has also chaired the Kerala chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Indian Merchant’s Chamber (IMC).

In June 2024, Mariwala was appointed President of the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, succeeding Samir Somaiya.

Family

Mariwala is married to Nandana. They have two children, an elder daughter Niharika Mariwala and younger son Nihaal Mariwala. Nihaal is the co-founder of Setu, direct-to-consumer health-tech brand focused on revolutionising the supplement industry in India.[4]
