Ryan Torrens is an American attorney.[2][3][4][5] He is the owner of the Torrens Law Group, which focuses on foreclosure defense and consumer protection litigation.[6][7][8] He is also currently a Democratic Party candidate for Florida Attorney General.[9][10][11][12]

Early life and education

Torrens went on to complete a B.A. degree in government and world affairs from the University of Tampa, magna cum laude.[13] He earned a J.D. degree from the George Washington University Law School.[14] While in law school, he served as an intern Congresswoman Kathy Castor (D-FL), Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO), and also interned for federal bankruptcy Judge Catherine Peek McEwen.[15][16][17]

Career

Upon completion from law school, Torrens as a consultant at the U.S. Department of Energy, working with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).[18] After a year of service, Torrens sat for the Florida Bar Exam, where he passed on the first try. Torrens then went on to serve as a consultant on the Independent Foreclosure Review Project, where he was charged with auditing toxic mortgage loans.[19][20] Torrens is now the owner of the Torrens Law Group, which focuses on consumer protection and foreclosure defense litigation.[21][22][23][24]
