Robert L. Sani (April 22, 1935 - June 19th, 2021) was an American engineer and academic renowned for his contributions to fluid dynamics, electrochemical engineering, and numerical methods. He served as a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder from 1976 to 2012. Sani had an extensive publication record, with 97 works cited over 5,600 times[1]. Notable among his publications is the two-volume series "Incompressible Flow and the Finite Element Method," co-authored with P.M. Gresho and published in 2000. This work has been influential in the field of computational fluid dynamics.
American professor emeritus of Chemical Engineering at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He served on the department faculty from 1976 to 2012, including his time as associate chair from 2007 to 2011. During his 36-year career at CU Boulder, he taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate chemical engineering courses and was well known for his contributions to the junior and senior labs. This work has been influential in the field of computational fluid dynamicsHis publications in fluid mechanical simulations has been cited over 5600 times and continues to have an impact. Robert's research focused on a variety of challenging chemical engineering subjects, including computer-aided analysis of flow and transport in microgravity processing, mass transfer and shape change effects in electrochemical systems, applied mathematics and numerical methods and more. This resulted in three books and over 100 research publications.[2]
