Smt. Priyankaa Varghese is a member of the Indian Forest Service (IFS)[1]. She is a keen learner and has delivered key-note lectures on forestry and biodiversity, community forest management, people and forestry interface issues at numerous schools, colleges, and institutes.

Academic Career

Priyankaa Varghese's remarkable academic journey started at the matriculation level itself and culminated with her emergence as one of the top 3 in the most competent Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi (UPSC) examination for IFS officers. She was the University topper and gold medalist at her graduation level too.

Experience

Priyankaa Varghese has specialized field expertise in Eco-tourism, Bio-diversity conservation, and urban Biodiversity. She was called upon to present her thoughts before the Honourable Prime Minister of India and the Planning Commission of India in 2012 representing Andhra Pradesh on “Countering Naxalism with Developmental Forestry”.

Achievements

Priyankaa Varghese served in many districts in her cadre state, where she was instrumental in creating jobs for unemployed youth, ladies, and the marginalized with a special focus on Naxalite affected zones. This achievement found a place as a model case study at the national level. She also encouraged that students are the key to the success of Haritha Haram[2].

Recognitions

Priyankaa Varghese has a passion to contribute towards social upliftment and urge to learn new emerging trends was recognized by her appointment as Officer on Special Duty(OSD) to the Honourable Chief Minister of Telangana[3][4], in the Chief Ministers Office for overseeing the implementations of Haritha Haram[5] [6] and entire Green initiatives of Telangana State. Today “she is reckoned as the lady with green thumps”.
