McGinty’s Group is a hospitality operator in Aberdeen. The firm operates pubs, restaurants, and a hotel.[1]

History

The company was formed in 2009.[2] It is named after its first location, McGinty's Meal an' Ale, on Union Street, Aberdeen|Union Street.[3]

In October 2017, the firm acquired seafood restaurant The Silver Darling.[4] The firm refurbished a building that formerly housed Esslemont & Macintosh, creating two restaurants. They opened in 2019.[5][6] The same year, the firm acquired The Grill, a bar on Union Street.[7]

During the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom|COVID-19 pandemic, the firm furloughed its 270 employees.[8] The company attracted criticism for erecting a marquee for outdoor seating on space created by the Scottish Government's Spaces for People initiative.[9]

In August 2021, the firm acquired Under The Hammer, a pub which had closed in September 2020.[10]
