Maka (stylized in all caps) is a 2024 Philippine television teen drama series broadcast by GMA Network. Directed by Rod Marmol, it stars Zephanie, Marco Masa, Ashley Sarmiento, Dylan Menor, John Clifford, Olive May, Chanty Videla, Sean Lucas, May Ann Basa & Romnick Sarmenta. It premiered on September 21, 2024 on the network's Sabado Star Power sa Hapon lineup replacing Pinoy Crime Stories.
Premise
Maka spin around the life of students studying in the prestigious Douglas Mac Arthur High School for the Arts.[1][2][3]

Development
The series was announced on August 6, 2024 during its story conference.[2]
Casting
On August 6, 2024 during the series' story conference, several actors were announced include Philippine actors Zephanie Dimaranan, Marco Masa and Ashley Sarmiento along with Dylan Menor, John Clifford, Olive May and Sean Lucas.[7][8] Additional cast members were announced on August 13, 2024–Chanty Videla from the Korean pop group Lappilus and Romnick Sarmenta.[8] Philippine actors Tina Paner, Jojo Alejar, Sharmaine Arnaiz, Maricar de Mesa and Carmen Soriano are set to star in the series.[5] May Ann Basa, known as Bangus Girl, will also join the series.[9]

According to AGB Nielsen Philippines' Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement People in television homes, the pilot episode of Maka earned an 6.6% rating.[10]
