Love Is Noise are a two-piece alternative metal band residing in the north & south of the UK. Formed in 2021, they are made up of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Cameron Humphrey, and lead guitarist Tom Mellon[1]. Drummer Louis Giannamore also records and performs with the band, but isn't involved in their writing process. They got their name from the song Love Is Noise by the band The Verve.

They have released 3 singles and 1 EP containing live performances of those 3 singles. Their debut single Deja Vu was released in November 2021, which was soon followed by Pillowcase in December. Azure premiered in January 2022 and they released their live EP The Nowhere Sessions in February.

The band's music takes advantage of sounds from shoegaze and alternative metal while still embedding their own unique sound and perspective on song writing.

History

Origin (2021)

After Cameron Humphrey left the band Lotus Eater, Tom Mellon got in contact with him and they started writing together in the summer of 2021. Recording of their first songs began on August 1st 2021.

Deja Vu and Pillowcase (2021)

On November 5 2021, the band released their debut song Deja Vu on all streaming services. The music video premiered on YouTube at 17:00 GMT the same day. To support this release, they released their first piece of merchandise - a black hoodie embroidered with their logo. It was released on November 17 and it came with a collector's item which had a scannable QR code that took you to a demo of their next release.

Pillowcase was released on December 10 2021[2] and was also followed by merchandise that included a similar collector's item. However, this card had a different design and took you to an unreleased promotion poster for their debut show. The merchandise was a black t-shirt that had a red and yellow picture of the band on the front and the words "FEEL THE POWER INSIDE" on the back, referring to the chorus of Pillowcase.

Azure and The Nowhere Sessions (2022 - present)

Azure was released on January 28 2022 and became the first single in the new year that promised big things from the band. As with the previous songs released, this single came with a new piece of merchandise - a white t-shirt containing the band's name and a red, white, and black design depicting three eyes. The eyes appear to be linked to a teaser for the song which contained a large picture of an eyeball and lyrics from the song. The t-shirt also came with a similar collector's item, but this time the QR code took you to an instrumental demo of an unreleased song.

On February 9 2022, the band teased the release of a live version of the singles Deja Vu, Pillowcase, and Azure. The Nowhere Sessions then premiered on YouTube on February 15 at 18:00 GMT. It entailed the band performing these 3 singles live in a studio in preparation for their debut show. The band received help from drummer Louis Giannamore and bassist Murry Deaves in order to have a live performance of every instrument.

On March 27 2022, Love Is Noise had their debut show at The Black Heart in London. Every ticket holder received a signed, dated, and individually numbered A3 poster that was printed for that show only. They also had the chance to buy merchandise that hadn't yet been released on their website. The bands Family Man, The Escape Artist, and Your Misery were there to support Love Is Noise, who were headlining. The setlist included all previously released singles and 3 songs that were yet to be released. This show was not only a unique sonic experience, but also included intense visual elements to enhance the emotion of the show. The band also described this show as "the debut of dreams". They have also announced more shows that they will be playing - supporting Heriot on April 29 2022 in Bristol, Burn It Down Festival on September 2/3 2022 in Torquay, and Throwfest on October 29 2022 in Cardiff.

Musical style and influences

Love Is Noise label themselves as an alternative metal band, but show a clear likeness to shoegaze and have an occasional hint of metalcore and post rock. They take the greatest inspiration from Loathe (band), but have sited other big influences as Glassjaw, Thornhill (band), Void of Vision, James and the Cold Gun, and Heriot[3].
