Lez Run

History and Focus
Founded in 2013 by C.C. Téllez, Lez Run is a LGBTQ running club based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. [1] Lez Run provides all LGBTQ+ athletes with a safe and supportive running space.[2]
LGBTQ Community Advocacy and Global Impact
Philadelphia Pride Run
In 2017 Lez Run co-organized the first ever Philadelphia Pride Run to support the William Way Community Center. [3]
Non-Binary Inclusion
Lez Run advocates for road and trail race inclusion of non-binary divisions with equal prizes as male and female divisions. In 2018 Lez Run's Board of Directors began working with race directors across the country for nonbinary inclusion.In September 2021, after the Philadelphia Distance Run became the first elite road race to offer a non-binary division, the Brooklyn Marathon followed in April 2022, according to the New York Times. As of 2023, six of the World Marathon Majors[4] including the New York City Marathon[5] London Marathon[6], Berlin Marathon, Chicago Marathon[7], Boston Marathon[8], and Tokyo Marathon[9] announced the addition of a nonbinary category. [10]
Elder Initiative with John C. Anderson Senior Apartments
In 2022 Lez Run initiated walking and running partnership with residents from the John C. Anderson LGBT-Friendly Senior Apartments and Queer Run to help prepare the elder community residents for the Philly Pride Run, the annual 5-kilometer race and one-mile fun run co-organized and co-founded by Lez Run that benefits the William Way Community Center.[11]
