Kotwa Kalan is a small village of 392 hectares in Nawabganj Tehsil in Barabanki district in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Kotwa Kalan depends on Dewa (NP), the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Kotwa Kalan's pin code is 225301[4], and village code is 05749300. The area of Kotwa Kalan is segregated as 279.432 hectares irrigated area, 7.711 hectares unirrigated area. the 45.342 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves) and remaining 42.598 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Dewa (NP) and Barabanki to sell jaggery and make their living.
